The Cooking Corner Pantry
Here's a list of items that would have been available to European cooks that you can find in the non-specialty supermarket today:
Flour (more about this later...)
Water
Grapes
Wine
Vinegar
Eggs
Chicken
Duck
Honey
Lamb
Milk, cream, butter, cheese
Salt and pepper (these things were very costly then, however)
Fish (fresh and salt water including the ubiquitous Cod)
Game (venison especially, and rabbit; a variety of game fowl)
Beef (used sparingly)
Oats, barley
Peas, carrots, onions, garlic, leeks, artichokes, parsnips, turnips, beets
Lentils
Apples, pears, cherries, berries, persimmons, currants (and raisins)
Olives and olive oil (regional)
Almonds, walnuts
