Welcome to the Barony of the Angels
The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA) is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events that feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes and workshops, and more.

09/11: Angels 40th Anniversary Tourney *** SITE CHANGE ***
|
RUBY & GOLD: Baron John ap Griffin & Baroness Flavia Beatrice Carmigniani invite all to celebrate our red & gold anniversary (rubies are traditional 40th anniversary gifts). We invite every rank & age to enter our Baronial Champion competitions. Even the youngest entrant can win; Angels' Bard is 13 year old! Prizes awarded in all competitions.
ARTS & SCIENCES CHAMPION: Enter your finest work in People's Choice A&S Competition. Documentation (even a short one) gets an extra token; documentation is required for baronial championship consideration. A bibliography gets a second token. Laurels who wish to participate in voting will get a 5-point token to bestow upon their favorite entry.
ARMORED COMBAT CHAMPION: A new champion will be determined by a standard double elimination tournament.
RAPIER CHAMPION: A new champion will be chosen in a standard list format.
GAMING CHAMPION: The Inn of the Crimson Spade will host games for the championship.
HESTER SPOON: Tempt judges' palates with your best red & gold culinary skills in two divisions: Period Dishes (doc-umentation & recipe required) & No-So-Period Dishes (just recipe). Please supply a full ingredient list for all entries.
SCRIBAL CONTEST: A scriptorium & illuminated letter competition to show off your painting skills with the letters "A" (for Angels), "J" (for Baron John) & "F" (for Baroness Flavia). All materials will be supplied.
YOUTH COMBAT: If there are enough entries, we will have Youth Combat.
RAFFLE FUND-RAISER: A wondrous collection of goodies to aid the Angels Trailer Fun: a Master Hroar teapot, books, scribal basket with ink-making kit, children's treasure basket, pet items donated by the Pasadena Humane Society, an old Angels' regalia item, and more buy a ticket & take home a piece of Baronial History!
BEAD EXCHANGE: Swap leftover beads or ones that just don't speak to you anymore for new & nifty shiny sparklies.

The Barony's weekly Fighter Practice is held at Recreation Park in Monrovia, on Tuesday evenings. Fighters usually start arriving around 7:30pm and practice officially starts at 8pm. Both Heavy Weapons and Rapier are taught and practiced here.

09/15: Baronial Sewing Workshop
|
Come sew with us! Some of us don't get any of that sewing we want to do done, so here is some moral support. What to make a thingy and don't know how, someone can probably help and if not we have the resources to help you figure out who can. There are no specific topics; this is just a drop in type event, for those of us that need some motivation to get going. Workshops will run from 6 pm 10 pm. (There is a cat on the premises.)
